A Western Cape team that speaks plain English

Salariq Services was started to give small and medium business owners the same standard of payroll, accounting and compliance support that big companies take for granted without the big-company price tag or the confusing language.

We're based in the Western Cape and work with clients right across South Africa. Most of our work is done remotely, which keeps things quick and affordable, but we're happy to come to you on-site when that's what your business needs.

Our team brings years of hands-on experience in payroll administration, bookkeeping and statutory compliance, and we keep our knowledge current as SARS and the Information Regulator update their requirements.

What our clients say

Business owners across the Western Cape and beyond.

Payroll used to take me two full days every month. Now I send one file and the payslips come back the same week. My staff are paid correctly and I've stopped worrying about UIF deadlines.

Nadia PetersenOwner, Table Bay Interiors — Cape Town

We needed a PAIA manual and a proper privacy policy before a big tender. Salariq had everything drafted, registered and ready well before the deadline. Straightforward and no fuss.

Sipho MahlanguDirector, Khanya Logistics — Bellville

Our books were months behind when we switched. They caught up the backlog, set up a monthly routine and now I get management accounts I can actually read and use to make decisions.

Frequently asked questions

The questions we hear most from small business owners.

What is UIF and do I have to register for it?

UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) is a national fund that pays out to employees who lose their jobs or go on maternity leave. If you employ anyone for more than 24 hours a month, you must register with the Department of Employment and Labour and contribute 1% of the employee's earnings, matched by another 1% from you. We handle the registration and the monthly declarations.

How does PAYE work for a small business?

PAYE (Pay-As-You-Earn) is the income tax deducted from your employees' salaries and paid over to SARS on their behalf each month. You deduct it, we calculate it correctly, and we submit your EMP201 return and payment by the 7th of the following month. At the end of the tax year we issue your employees' IRP5 certificates.

What is COIDA and does my business need it?

COIDA (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act) covers employees who are injured or become ill at work. Almost every employer with staff must register with the Compensation Fund and submit an annual return of earnings. We register you, prepare the return and manage the submission.

My bookkeeping is behind. Can you catch it up?

Yes. Catching up a backlog is one of the most common jobs we take on. We'll work through your bank statements, invoices and receipts, bring your records up to date, and then set up a monthly routine so it never piles up again.

What does POPIA actually require from my business?

POPIA (the Protection of Personal Information Act) requires you to handle the personal information you collect — customer details, employee records, supplier contacts — lawfully and securely. In practice that means having a privacy policy, telling people why you're collecting their information, keeping it safe, and appointing an Information Officer. We help you put all of that in place.

Do I need a PAIA manual?

If you run a private business, you are generally required to have a PAIA manual available to the public, setting out what records you hold and how someone can request access to them. We draft the manual, help you register your Information Officer, and keep the document updated as your business changes.

How long does it take to get started?

Most clients are onboarded within five to ten working days. We'll send you a short checklist of what we need, set up your schedule, and confirm your first run date in writing. If you have an urgent deadline, tell us and we'll do our best to work around it.

What do you need from me to onboard?

Your business registration details, SARS and UIF reference numbers, a list of employees with their ID numbers and salaries, and access to your bank statements or accounting records. We'll guide you through it step by step — you don't need to have anything perfectly organised before you contact us.
